Why I Switched from Odonil to Soya Wax Scented Bars (and You Might Want To, Too!)

(Yes, the purple-blue one. See the reference image in your mind. And seriously, start eating almonds—I’m telling you, memory matters!)


Of course, you have. That’s why you need to read this—because maybe, just maybe, we’ve been wrong all along.

Wait—what do you mean we’re wrong?

Okay, let me clear the air (pun intended). I’m not here to bash Odonil. It’s been a go-to option in many households, mine included. But once I started exploring alternatives, I realized there are better options out there—ones that are more eco-friendly, long-lasting, and way more fulfilling.

Let me introduce you to scented bars made from 100% soy wax.

I discovered them a few months ago, and honestly, I haven't looked back since. I initially bought them on Amazon and Meesho. But the real game-changer? A small business I stumbled upon through YouTube. They handcraft soy wax scented bars that are genuinely worth trying. I’ve used them myself—and that’s why I’m confidently recommending them.

Why I Fell Out of Love with Odonil

Let me give you a quick rundown of why Odonil no longer works for me:

  1. The scent doesn’t last
    I hung a fresh Odonil bar in my bathroom just a week ago, and today—nothing. Not a hint of fragrance. It’s like it vanished overnight.

  2. There’s always leftover waste
    Once the fragrance fades, you’re left with this hard residue—like a chunk of alum. It doesn’t dissolve or break down easily, making it not-so-great for the environment.

  3. Potential health concerns
    I’m not trying to scare you, but do a quick Google search on:

    • “How is Odonil made?”

    • “Is Odonil harmful to pets or children?”

    • “Does it contain naphthalene?”

    • “Eco-friendly alternatives to Odonil?”

It’s an eye-opener.

So What’s the Alternative?

After trying multiple options, I’ve settled on these soy wax scented bars from a small brand on Instagram called @artist_her. Their bars are:

  • 100% natural soy wax

  • Hand-poured

  • Eco-friendly

  • Long-lasting

I’ve used them everywhere—in my room, wardrobe, shoe rack, and bathroom (small one, I live alone). The scent lingers beautifully. For larger spaces, just use two or more. Simple.

Bonus: Once the bar fades out, I use the remaining wax in my diffuser. No waste. Just more fragrance!

My Current Favorite? Coffee.

That comforting smell of coffee greets me when I step into my room—it’s calming and cozy. But they have plenty of other options: Rose, Lavender, Orange, and more. You can pick what suits your vibe best.

 I didn't know it would get so worse in a few months.
