I Thought My Logo Was My Brand... I Was Wrong

Image
3 Things Small Business Owners Often Get Wrong About Branding (And What To Do Instead) When I started my handmade business, I did what most small business owners do — I made a logo, picked a few colors I liked, and curated a pretty Instagram feed. Boom. Branding done, right? Not even close. A order that changed my life Over time (and many, many mistakes later), I realized that branding goes much deeper than just visuals. It’s not just about what people see — it’s about what they feel . So whether you’re just starting out or trying to rebrand your small business, here are three branding mistakes I made — and what I wish I knew instead: 1. Mistaking visuals for your entire brand Don’t get me wrong — design matters. A cohesive visual identity builds recognition. But branding isn’t only about how you look. It’s about the full experience your customer has with you. The tone you use in captions and emails The care you put into packaging The emotions your unboxing e...

🎨 Why I Started Artist_her — And What It Taught Me About People

Image
I didn’t start artist_her to build a business. I started it to hold space for emotion. Back in 2021, I handcrafted a simple card — no brand, no packaging, no intention of selling it. Just a deeply personal gesture from one heart to another. It wasn’t perfect. But their reaction? That stayed with me. It was in that moment I realized something powerful: People don’t just want to give things. They want to give meaning . They want their emotions to be felt . Their stories to be seen . Their memories to be held in someone else’s hands — literally. ✨ The Birth of artist_her That realization became the seed for artist_her — my handmade gifting studio built on heart, not hype. Today, we create: Story-based scrapbooks and memory albums Custom scratch cards, journals, and light frames Thoughtful, handcrafted pieces that speak louder than words ever could Each product is a collaboration. A shared secret. A little piece of someone’s world — folded into paper, color, a...

Why I Switched from Odonil to Soya Wax Scented Bars (and You Might Want To, Too!)

Image
Have you ever used those Odonil fresheners—the ones we usually hang in our bathrooms to keep the space smelling fresh? (Yes, the purple-blue one. See the reference image in your mind. And seriously, start eating almonds—I’m telling you, memory matters!) Of course, you have. That’s why you need to read this—because maybe, just maybe, we’ve been wrong all along. Wait—what do you mean we’re wrong? Okay, let me clear the air (pun intended). I’m not here to bash Odonil. It’s been a go-to option in many households, mine included. But once I started exploring alternatives, I realized there are better options out there—ones that are more eco-friendly, long-lasting, and way more fulfilling. Let me introduce you to scented bars made from 100% soy wax . I discovered them a few months ago, and honestly, I haven't looked back since. I initially bought them on Amazon and Meesho. But the real game-changer? A small business I stumbled upon through YouTube. They handcraft soy wax scented ba...

Surely, things take time...

I didn't know it would get so worse in a few months. I have tried my 100% to get everything back as it was, but I guess few things are meant to be shattered, and few things are meant to be left as they are. I am sure you did not understand a single bit of what I said in the past few lines, but here is the whole story for you to understand and relate to it better. I am not a professional artist I am just a child with a passion for creating things with pen, paper and colours.  In 2023, I started up a page on Instagram with the name ARTIST_HER which simply means artist in her. (you can check it out here:  Artist_her  ) Soon making art for myself turned into the pressure of making art for others. Lines need to be straight, colour matching and perfection but, arre hold on bhai kuch jyada nhi demand ho gyi? People were not wrong but what I started it for they never know. This started to turn into an art and craft business because I wanted to grow on Instagram, I wanted to...

Expectations and Teens

Image
It feels good to be back again. With such a long long break full of unexpected twists and turns I just had a fantastic question from one of my old friends.  'Do keeping expectations with someone kill us?' And I paused for a few seconds before answering the same. Anyhow I do try my best to provide the best answer possible in that situation but this is a common question among teenagers these days. They EXPECT. They expect their exes to come back, their marks to improve, their reels to get viral, their so-called fantasies to turn into reality and whatnot. They EXPECT and EXPECT and EXPECT and hurt themselves later on to reality. Rest we all know a historically famous line, Yaar expectation hurts. And become the 21st-century wala DEVDAS. Okay, jokes apart so I believed to give my thoughts a try to write on expectations. Here it goes... Let's break down this question to answer it properly. To begin with, What is an EXPECTATION? Um...expectation is anticipating what is likely to ...

I am somewhere but not here...

Image
How clearly can we agree to the fact that yes, I have thought a lot on a topic not worth thinking about? To put this simply we can say yes I have overthought a lot. And it happens more often than I get late for school/college/office every day. I wanted to write on a topic like this but end up overthinking about what to write on overthinking. Sounds funny, right? Our generation is falling into the pit hole of overthinking and instead of reducing it, this generation feels proud of doing the same. For instance, youngsters like to proudly add #overthinker to their profile bio and consider it as an achievement. I feel how ill the person is, might be having a hard time consuming things easily. I feel so very concerned about an overthinker.  This is not what we should feel proud of. Being an overthinker is both a thing of concern and a thing of being unconcerned. As in if you overthink an important aspect of life like career, job/business and many more is a sign of a healthy mindset ...

I don't want to lose myself loving you!

Image
Vo khete hain na, ghuma mt Dena khud ko yu dhunte hue usko, Anmol tum bhi ho aur Heera(diamond) Bhi Anmol h, bs keemat uski km aur tumhari jyada hai. {वो केहेते हैं ना, घुमा मत देना खुदको यू ढुंडते हुए उसे, अनमोल तुम भी हो और हीरा भी, बस कीमत उसकी कम और तुम्हारी ज्यादा है।  } I have never thought of a time when I will be using some Hindi lines to explain what self-love is and how difficult it is to practice it daily. It takes a lot of time to cheer yourself up and follow the path of self-love and once you are in it you will realize the happiness it spreads through you. But like with every good thing, there is always a warning. The same is the case here,  Warning to self-love: if you practice it daily a time will come when you will be used to it and replace it easily, unknowingly.  And when I say this I understand that it was not what you think of it. You never wanted to stop loving yourself but at the same time, you also wanted to love others and not lo...
